I've been singing for what feels like forever, playing guitar for over 30 years, performing all my life but more so professionally in last 15 years, and started teaching in 2009. Over the years I've played in many venues in and around Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, as well as busked in Australia, gigged in New Zealand, played Open Mics in San Fransisco and taught English to children in Greece through the magic of music. Where ever I go, my guitar goes too.♥
I worked in Bruce Millers Music Shop, and it was there I learnt a huge array of skills which have helped me as musician. I was the Guitar Specialist so my job was to choose, play and sell guitars all day long, so you can be assured I will do the best I can to help with any purchase or questions you may have. I also had to learn about every other instrument, PA equipment, amplification etc so will do what I can to help you there too...although not claiming to know everything as been a wee while since I worked there now :-)
I am very passionate about music, and in particular, teaching it. I still have one of my very first pupils who I'm very proud of. I have loved watching her grow from a wee girl into an exceptionally talented and lovely young woman.
I had a great teacher as an adult, and it was him that actually got me into teaching and gave me my first teaching job, also in Bruce Millers. Until then I was self taught and my playing came on leaps and bounds under his tuition. I then went to college and leant more about the theory of music which then allowed me to teach myself other instruments such as piano, which I can now teach at a beginners level.
Over the years I've been very lucky musically and had the chance to play with an array of different musicians. I've written and recorded my own songs, 2 of which entered the iTune's charts, and even got to share a stage with 80's icon Toyah Wilcox for 2 nights.
I know how much joy, experiences, comfort, self confidence and SO many other great attributes can come from playing music and how many new friendships can develop from it. So I'm very much looking forward to meeting you and getting you or your child on the wonderful road to musicianship.
Thanks for taking the time to read my wee novel there ;-)
